Mason's day yesterday was a huge improvement. He still threw up several times but not as severe as the day before. He's still choking after he eats which causes him to throw up. We will check in with the doctor tomorrow. We are heading to Shriners today to meet with the orthopedic surgeon. He will be taking a look at Mason's hands to determine if a surgery is going to need to be scheduled. We will let you know how our appt. goes. Praying that you have a blessed day. Love, Wendy

Wendy - do you remember me (Kris Bates)? Just came across your blog through my sister-in-law (Kelli - married to Robbie). I want you to know that I am praying for you! We have 4 children now, and have experienced a few incidents of critical illnesses (very short term) with them. Recently, our 10 month old (at the time) aspirated and choked on something unkown and we had to get the paramedics out - it took him over a month to return to his normal eating routine - I was drained (in many ways) from this experience - I just want you to know that I can not comprehend how you and your husband must be feeling, our prayers our with you for strength and wisdom as you patiently await answers.
Wendy,
I have been reading your blog since Mason's birth but am not sure if I ever commented before. I wanted to first let you know that I have been praying for your family for some time and know firsthand the power of prayer.
Second, I wanted to let you know that our daughter suffered from severe vomiting/choking after she would eat that seemed to get progressively worse over a 3 month period. The odd thing is that she never once showed any signs of this during her 2 month stay in the NICU. I too logged all her intake and output (vomit). I remember the day I hit my breaking point very vividly. She was admitted and treated with IV nexium. I was certain it wouldn't work because she was already on oral reflux medication that seemed to do nothing. However, the IV nexium over a few days was able to heal her irritated esophagus enough to drastically reduce her vomiting and make her comfortable enough to increase her intake over time.
I wanted to share this with you as an option to discuss with your physician's. After our ordeal I have heard many similar stories about the iv nexium and thought it was worth at least sharing with you to help get Mason some relief.
Best of luck!
Jamie
