Today we had another great day with Mason. We changed more diapers, fed bottles and he threw up on me. It was great!! He had the hiccups and burped. We were able to to speak with the team of
neurosurgeons today. They said that Mason's shunt was working well and draining the fluid from his brain. They also told us that Mason may be able to go home this weekend or early next week!!!!! (Praise the Lord) They need Mason to gain some of his weight back and maintain it. Today he was 8lbs 2 oz. As far as his development goes only time will tell. They said there is not a particular test that will determine the progress he could or could not make. We will be consulting with them 2 weeks after Mason is released. They will then give him another MRI and see the progress the shunt has made. They will also be looking at his hearing and vision. PT and OT will be coming to see us tomorrow to help us with Mason's thumb and fingers. They may put splints on his thumbs to try and get them to function. Once Mason is out of the hospital they will be coming to the house to work with him each week. As far as the genetic testing goes, we will not know the results for at least 8 weeks. The results we will be waiting on will be if he has
Xlink Hydrocephalus. Kevin and I continue to pray that God will spare him from this but if he doesn't we're determined to give him a full life. We are prepared to treat him like any other boy and push him to do all that he can do. We know that with God all things are possible. We have enjoyed reading all the comments you continue to leave on the blog. They bring tears to our eyes and fill our hearts with joy. We just feel so blessed and thank God for friends and family that love our little boy so much. We love the new friends we are meeting through our blog. You are all a blessing. Love you all! Wendy

Your baby is so beautiful. I'll be praying for you as you await the test results! No matter what, he has the best condition a child can be born with - loving parents!
HEY WENDY -
What a small world it is. I have become a huge fan of Kelly's Korner Blog and today she listed some prayer request - and I had no idea it would ever be someone that I knew! Mason is an absolutely precious baby! I will be praying for you, Kevin, and Mason!

I love baby hiccoughs. They are so funny, they look like the surprise the little baby each and every time a hiccough hits. :)
Your boy is beautiful and I will pray for a negative result from the Xlink test. I am excited that you'll be able to bring him home to that beautiful room you've designed.
Mason is a beautiful boy! Congratulations!
I also had a c-section, and was expecting to take my baby boy home in just a few days. His room was ready and waiting.
Our son Alex was born with RTS a syndrome that affects chromosome 16. We have struggled, and we have conquered, it has been so hard, and it has been so amazing.
Thinking of you while you start your own journey.
Hi Wendy--I went to CCC and I found your blog through another blog, Kelly's Korner (www.kellyskornerblog.com) I will be praying for you and for your new little one, Mason. He is adorable. Thank you for sharing and keeping everyone updated!

What a beautiful baby boy, Kevin and Wendy! Mason is so blessed to have you as parents. Your outlook and perspective is so encouraging. It reminds me of my parents and what they went through when I was born. They received news that was very similar to what you've heard, but God is good. He is still a God of miracles! I will keep you all in my prayers. Thanks for sharing Mason's story.
Love,
Laurel
Great day!! Praise the Lord? He is doing mighty things in that precious baby's life every day. He is so adorable and so loved. Harvey and Donna look great with him. Loved the pic with the "boys hangin out"!! I'm still praying.

Kevin and Wendy,
Liza and I were running yesterday (go figure) and talking about all the Christians we know who are experiencing struggles and difficulties right now. I just wanted to encourage you and let you know that your good attitude, your willingness to see the positive, your hope in an ever-loving God, brings Him so much glory in our eyes. Thank you for being an example of faithfulness to Him, which strengthens the faith of others. We are praying for you.
