Mason's Surgery

Mason will have surgery Monday morning to put in a GJ Tube (feeding tube). This was the least invasive surgery of the three they were discussing. It should take about 30 min. to do the procedure. They will be putting him under and the recovery is only a day. We continue to pray that this will help solve many of his problems. As we were discussing with the doctors this week, we would like to try this before considering the fundoplication surgery . That surgery has many negatives to it and would need to be repeated. Kevin and I are praying that the GJ tube will be the answer and we can go home this week. The problem they discovered with his diaphragm we are putting on the back burner. We will continue to follow up with pulmonology but we all decided that it was not a high priority. The surgeons would like for him to gain weight before considering that surgery.

Mason is feeling much better. Fever has been gone for a couple of days and his cough has subsided quite a bit. They have been giving him breathing treatments several times a day and they have made a big difference. We continue to praise God for his protection while we've been here. We have had wonderful doctors and nurses that have been working with us. We met a little girl yesterday that has a GJ Tube. She has been here for 65 days!! Her mom said her G tube has been a blessing. I told her mom I can't imagine how they have done this for so long. All you have to do is walk down the hall of this hospital and you realize quickly your situation is not bad. We praise the Lord that we have been able to solve Mason's problem so quickly. I know I sound like a broken record but thank you thank you for all your prayers. God has given us an amazing peace. I'm sure Monday morning will be a little tough when they take him away but I know the results will be great. I was joking around w/ the doc about this surgery. I was saying that if Mason's was getting fed throughout the night that he should start sleeping through the night, Right??? He of course laughed and said he couldn't guarantee that. I told him if he could he would have a line of mothers outside his office door everyday. :) Wishful thinking. :) We will continue to keep you updated. Love you all, Kevin, Wendy and Mason
